Top Airport Options:
- El Paso International Airport (ELP): Often preferred for proximity (approx. 133-150 miles) and ease of travel from southern regions.
-
Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ): The largest airport in the state, offering more, usually cheaper, flight connections via major carriers like Southwest, American, and United. (approx. 2.5 hours drive)
-
Roswell International Air Center (ROW): A closer, smaller alternative (approx. 78 miles away), though it may have fewer, more expensive flights.
Key Tips:
- Drive Time: Regardless of the airport, you will need to rent a car, as Mescalero is about a 2.5-hour drive from El Paso and a 3-hour drive from Albuquerque.

We want to give you an opportunity to see the issues we address as large land-based Tribes that are not being addressed by any other organizations, such as transportation, healthcare and voting rights. COLT played an active role in changing the American Rescue Plan Act from NAHASDA population numbers to utilizing tribal enrollment numbers.
