Coalition of Large Tribes to Host MMIW/P Training for Law Enforcement

Monument Valley sunrise in Navajo Nation

COLT will host an event for Law Enforcement on MMIW Advance Training, and it will be held from October 23rd to October 25th in Billing Montana. This training will be to address and highlight the horrific crisis on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & People. We know that in order to do more with less funding, we need to provide advance training for Tribal Law Enforcement to deter these atrocities happening to our people.

The Training will be provided by nationally recognized experts and COLT Tribal Law Enforcement Programs will be given priority on the 21 slots available for the Training. COLT is requesting that COLT Tribes submit the names & rank of three individuals that consist of 1, Police Office-first responder, 1, Supervisor and 1, investigator to attend the training. Please contact your Law Enforcement Programs to see if they can participate. If Tribes want to include the head of Law Enforcement to the Training, please let us know you will be sending 4 individuals for the training so I can adjust the slots available.

Tribal Administration and/or Council Representatives are invited to attend the 1st day of the Training, attend the evening dinner. Tribal Leaders are welcome to say and listen to all training being provided, unfortunately cannot take part in the training or discussion.

Because we want to provide information on MMIW/People within your area’s as well as identification badges we ask that you provide the names and ranks of the individuals Law Enforcement Personnel & Tribal Leaders attending.
